Delete your eChankura account
You can ask us to close your eChankura account and delete your personal information at any time. This page explains how to make that request, what we delete, and what we are legally required to keep.
Requests are handled by our privacy team at privacy@tafaritech.co.za.

How to request deletion
- 01
Email us from your registered address
Send your request from the email address linked to your eChankura account. This is how we confirm the request is really coming from you.
- 02
Include your account details
Give us your full name, registered email address and registered mobile number so we can find your account. Never send your password, PIN or full card number.
- 03
We verify, then confirm
We may contact you to verify your identity before we act on the request. You will get written confirmation once the deletion is complete.
Before you request
We can only close an account once it is settled. Please make sure you have:
- Withdrawn any remaining balance from your wallet
- Settled or cancelled any pending transactions and orders
- Closed or resolved any open disputes and support cases
Deleting your account is permanent. You will lose access to your transaction history, marketplace listings, and any rewards or balances you have not withdrawn.
What we delete
- Your profile, login credentials and account settings
- Your marketplace listings, storefront and saved items
- Saved beneficiaries, cards and payment preferences
- Device tokens, push notification and marketing preferences
- Support conversations not required for a legal or regulatory record
What we are required to keep
eChankura is a regulated financial services provider. South African law obliges us to retain certain records even after an account is closed, so we cannot delete everything on request. Retained records are kept only for as long as the law requires, are not used to market to you, and stay protected.
- Identity and verification (KYC) records we are obliged to keep as an accountable institution, retained for five (5) years after the account is closed
- Transaction history and statements required for financial, tax and anti-money-laundering reporting
- Records relating to an open dispute, chargeback, fraud investigation or legal claim, until it is resolved
- Aggregated or anonymised data that can no longer be used to identify you
How long it takes
We aim to acknowledge your request within 5 business days and to complete verified deletions within 30 days. If we need more time, or if we cannot delete a record because we are legally required to keep it, we will tell you why.
